Police prison - St. Ruprechterstraße
The building in St. Ruprechterstraße, nowadays housing Bundespolizeidirektion Klagenfurt, used to be the national-socialist police prison. Up to today, a prison still exists on the premises: the Polizeianhaltezentrum (literally: police
custodial centre). On 19 February 1945, the police prison was hit during an air raid in which more than 30 people were killed, among them resistance fighters and forced labourers.
